World of Techcraft - Technical Improv Intensive

Summary: This workshop is dedicating to learning the magical art of world building, how to heighten and support your fellow improvisors from the booth, and give that extra theatrical gloss to a both short form and narrative improvised shows through an engaging mix of theory, games and exercises. Content can be customized based on student interest.

 

Topics include:

  • Theatrical design theory in improv

  • Lighting with traditional theater lighting and LEDs

  • Designing your theater's light grid and choosing the right lightboard

  • Live scoring with recorded music

  • Sound effects usage

  • Sound setup and computer programs to run sound effectively

  • Overview of Projection, Costuming, Props, Make-Up

Intro to Technical Improvisation

Summary: Technical improv is all about worldbuilding, doubling down on your teammate's offers, and making your improv show truly theatrical. This workshop is an overview of lighting, scoring and sound effects improvisation. Students will leave with the tools to begin their improv tech journey.
